The European Society of Catholic Theology,
Irish Section
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
The general aim of ESCT is to promote theology and theological
research in a European context.
Its particular tasks include:
- exchange of ideas and experience
among its members regrding
their research plans and results.
-
interdisciplinary work relevant to theology.
- an openness for ecumenism.
- cooperation with other groups working in theology, as well as with
national and international societies.
The society pursues these goals through conferences, seminars,
publications and others means.
The Irish Section of ESCT pursues these aims and objectives in
Ireland and shortly will seek to recruit new members.
The Irish section
holds informal discussion meetings roughly every
two months. For

Details on The Jonah Project, one year project to reflect critically from a theological perspective on the present institutional and theological crisis in the RC church in particular, and Christian religions in general, brought to the surface by the mishandling of child sexual abuse by clergy.
