16th, Tuesday, An Ecumenical St. Patrick’s Tide Celebration, organised by the Dublin Council of Churches. The Dublin Council of Churches is organizing an ecumenical celebration on the Eve of St. Patrick’s Day to commemorate in simplicity and beauty, in word and music the coming of Christianity to Ireland and the role that St. Patrick played in this. It will take place on Monday, 16th March, 7pm. The venue is City Quay Church near Matt Talbot Bridge. The event celebrates the coming of Christianity to Ireland and the role that St. Patrick played in this. Through readings from Patrick’s historical writings and through music, prayer and scripture readings it seeks to bear witness to the great source of hope in our common faith which challenges, renews and sustains in these difficult times. The event will begin outside City Quay Church on the quay side as a rowing boat will land symbols of the arrival of the Gospel through St. Patrick, which will be received in the presence of the Dublin Church leaders including Archbishops Diarmuid Martin and John Neill. The gathering will be addressed by Rev. Julian Hamilton, Joint Methodist/Presbyterian Chaplain to Trinity College. DCC are grateful for the support from musicians associated with the Pro-Cathedral who will help to make it a beautiful occasion. All are most welcome.
